Kerala floods remain a recurring challenge. This situation is a major cause of
low lying terrain, and dense drainage. In the presence of heavy monsoon, the increase in flood risk occurs every year.
Here we analyze the Vembanad Lake region, one of the most flood prone areas in the state using the topological, cultural and hydrological features.
A flood susceptibility map was generated using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method used during Environmental Vulnerability Assessment coursework held in two batches.
The map highlights zones with varying levels of flood susceptibility.
This work is intended to support understanding of spatial flood risk patterns.
Flood susceptibility mapping helps improve planning, awareness, and risk informed decision making.
The results are shared for methodological and informational purposes only.
Uncertainties and dynamic flood processes are not fully addressed.
